Burnie testing clinic closing

The state-operated PCR testing clinic and RAT collection site in Burnie is closing on Sunday 9 October 2022. This is in line with a reduced demand for testing at the clinic.

From Monday 10 October 2022, PCR testing is available at:

  • The state-operated Devonport Testing Clinic at the East Devonport Recreation Centre (access via John Street). The clinic is open 8.30am – 3.30pm, 7 days a week. Bookings are not required at this clinic.
  • North-West Pathology
    • PCR testing is available for people who have COVID-19 symptoms at North-West Pathology, 52-56 Bass Highway, Cooee from 8.30am - 2.00pm Monday – Friday (weekends as required). A request form is needed to be tested here and you must have a booking. The general public should visit their doctor or Healthcare Professional for a request form. Patients and Healthcare Professionals must contact North-West Pathology on 6432 8800 to book a test. No walk-ins will be accepted.
    • PCR testing for asymptomatic people (including people who require a PCR test for hospital admission or travel) is available at North-West Pathology at the Medical Centre, 21 Brickport Road, Burnie from 8.30am - 2.00pm Monday – Friday (weekends as required). Testing for pre-hospital admission requires a request form. COVID-19 travel testing accepted but travellers must follow the Sonic Travel Testing instructions. Patients and Healthcare Professionals must contact North-West Pathology on 6432 8800 to book a test. No walk-ins will be accepted.

From Monday 10 October 2022, RAT collection is available at:

  • The state-operated Devonport Testing Clinic at the East Devonport Recreation Centre. RATs must still be requested online. The clinic is open 8.30am – 3.30pm, 7 days a week.
  • Service Tasmania centres. RAT collection is available at Service Tasmania centres for concession card holders. Find a Service Tasmania centre.
  • RAT kits can be purchased from local pharmacies and supermarkets.
