Royal Hobart Hospital COVID Management

The Royal Hobart Hospital remains at level 2 of its COVID-19 Management Escalation Plan, but additional visitor precautions will commence tomorrow.  

We continue to see an increasing number of visitors entering the health facility with symptoms. If people have symptoms of COVID-19 we ask them to avoid visiting high-risk settings, such as hospitals, and get tested. 

Visiting hours will continue to be 2pm to 7pm and all visitors will continue to be required to complete the health screening process before entering. Visiting restrictions will apply to designated COVID-19 wards. 

Visitors will be limited to one per patient at any time and can only visit for a maximum of one hour, with exemptions for compassionate reasons managed by each ward 

As part of this escalation, staff continue to be required to wear N95/P2 masks and eyewear in identified clinical and patient-facing settings to keep staff, patients and visitors safe. 

Hospital escalation is a well-established process that has repeatedly proven to be effective in managing periods of heightened demand during previous waves of the pandemic. 

The Regional Health Management Team will continue to monitor the situation closely.  

Tasmanians can also contact Healthdirect on 1800 022 222 24 to speak to a Registered Nurse for free, 24 hours a day 7 days a week. If needed, people may be able to get a call back from a Tasmanian GP during the afterhours period.
