G2G PASS – Register your travel to Tasmania

The Tasmanian Government requires people arriving in Tasmania to provide information to help determine entry and quarantine requirements.

This includes Tasmanian residents returning to the State and those people wanting to enter Tasmania as Essential Travellers. If you are travelling as a family or with multiple people, please note that information is required for all individuals. Dependent children must be included on the G2G PASS of the adult they are travelling with.

G2G PASS registrations can be created and managed via the website and also managed via the app.

Your G2G PASS provides a QR code – a type of barcode that can be scanned on your arrival.

Travellers who receive their G2G PASS QR code before arriving will be able to quickly pass through their port of arrival in Tasmania.

If you do not have a G2G PASS QR code when you arrive, Biosecurity Tasmania officers will ask you to register your travel on the G2G PASS website or provide assistance if you are unable to complete the online application.

Before you travel

You are encouraged to register online for your Tasmanian travel pass.

G2G is currently experiencing a heavy load of applications. You are encouraged to apply at least three days prior but no more than 14 days prior to your proposed travel date. Applications are prioritised according to travel date and those with long lead times are unlikely to be processed earlier than two weeks before travel, due to the possibility of changing border restrictions.

You should ensure you stay up to date with Tasmania’s current border restrictions before you travel to Tasmania. See Coming to Tasmania for full details.

You will need your driver’s licence, passport, Medicare card or Tasmanian Personal Information Card to complete your application for a G2G PASS. You will be asked to provide details about yourself and information about your recent travel and current health status. If you wish to apply for an exemption from quarantine or for recognition as an Essential Traveller, you will be asked additional questions to confirm your eligibility under these categories.

You should attach documents and/or files to provide evidence to support your application. If you do not provide suitable evidence, your application will be declined and will require resubmission.

Once you have submitted your information and verified your email address, you can track your application by logging into the G2G PASS dashboard. Or you can download the G2G PASS app to do this. See G2G PASS FAQs for more information.

You will be notified by email of the outcome of your application and receive a G2G PASS QR code if your application is successful.

On arrival

When you arrive in Tasmania, your G2G PASS QR code will be scanned and you will be asked to provide updated information on your recent travel and health status, as at your date of arrival.

Depending on your answers to these questions, the conditions provided in your G2G PASS may change (eg being required to quarantine in government-designated accommodation). This advice will be provided to you by an authorised officer.

You must ensure that you are aware of the conditions that apply to you while in Tasmania. Be sure to revisit the list of conditions that apply to you on your day of arrival in Tasmania. This list may be updated with any change to the Directions issued by the Deputy State Controller.
