Multidiscipline team meetings

The Northern Cancer Service runs several Multidisciplinary team meetings (also known as MDT’s or MDM’s). The purpose of these meetings is to ensure expert, comprehensive, patient-centred care plans are established for patients. These meetings are attended by Consultant Oncologists, Medical Specialists, Surgeons, Pathologists, Radiologists, Cancer Care Coordinators, Social Works and Allied Health team members.

General Practitioners are invited to attend patient discussions at MDT meetings, the patient's GP is notified of the presentation date and time, as well as the outcomes of the meeting.

All plans of care established at MDT’s are subject to change based on patient preferences for treatment.

All patients discussed at MDT's are required to provide consent for their case to be presented.
